I am placing a hold on a digital book using the WCCLS catalog. Will I still get an email when the hold is ready? Will the hold get checked out automatically to me?
If you use the WCCLS catalog to place a hold on a digital title, it's good to be aware of a few things.
If you place a hold using the WCCLS catalog (as opposed to within the OverDrive app, the Libby app, or at wccls.overdrive.com), two things may be different: the email address you get notified at, and whether the hold is automatically checked out to you.
When you place a hold in the WCCLS catalog, the email address for that hold request will by default be the email address in your WCCLS catalog account. If you want to change the email address you get notified at for that particular OverDrive hold, you can edit it in Libby, or in the OverDrive app or wccls.overdrive.com.
To change the email address in your WCCLS catalog account, log in and then click on Contact Information and Preferences in the middle of the screen.
If you use the OverDrive app or wccls.overdrive.com, you can set your account to check out holds automatically, once they come available. In Libby, your holds are checked out automatically, as they come available. However, if you place a hold using the WCCLS catalog, once that hold comes available, it will not be automatically be checked out to you, even if you're using Libby or have automatic checkout turned on. Instead, you will get an email that says you have 72 hours to check out the hold.
If you want to use the automatic checkout feature, please place holds using Libby, the OverDrive app, or at wccls.overdrive.com.
