Options while WCCLS Adventure Pass registration is down

 

Of the current venues that participate in the WCCLS Adventure Pass program, only the Portland Art Museum has free or discounted admission for the general population: museum admission is free on the first Thursday of every month from 10am to 7pm and programs at the Tomorrow Theater in Southeast Portland are free.

In the meantime, here are some nearby options that have free / low-cost admission:

  • Hoyt Arboretum: home to 2,300 species of trees and shrubs from six continents. In Washington Park (between the zoo and Japanese Garden). Free.
  • International Rose Test Garden: the oldest official continuously operated public rose test garden in the United States. In Washington Park (adjacent to the Japanese Garden). Free. 
  • Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art @ PSU. Downtown Portland. Free.
  • Leach Botanical Garden: offers immersive, restorative, and educational experiences in a unique landscape of native plants and horticultural collections. In Southeast Portland. Low cost; also offers a Garden for All option.
  • Nordic Northwest: Featuring Nordia House, home of Nordic Northwest's Nordic cultural center, Fogelbo, a Steiner log home listed on the National Register of Historic Places, unique artwork. Garden Home. Free.
  • Oregon Historical Society. Downtown Portland. Low cost.
  • Oregon Rail Heritage Center: ORHC provides for the preservation, operation and public enjoyment of Portland’s historic locomotives, railroad equipment, and artifacts, and educates the public about Oregon’s rich and diverse railroad history. Near OMSI. Free.

Japanese American Museum of Oregon

JAMO is a Museums for All participant. Show your SNAP EBT card at the museum’s admission desk to receive free admission for up to four people.

Lan Su Chinese Garden

Lan Su Chinese Garden offers reduced rate admission at $3 per person to all  Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cardholders for up to four individuals per EBT card. To claim this offer, please present your EBT card and a valid form of photo ID when purchasing admission at the Garden Ticket Booth. Please note that Museums for All admission offer only applied to in-person admission purchases and cannot be reserved online. 

Pittock Mansion

Pittock Mansion participates in the Arts for All program. Visitors who receive food stamps through SNAP and have an Oregon Trail Card can buy up to 2 admission tickets for $5 each. Present your Oregon Trail Card at admissions at the time of purchase.

Arts for All – Oregon Trail cardholders can purchase up to 2 museum admissions for $5 each. They can also purchase up to 2 tickets to any $15 program at the Tomorrow Theater for $5 (walk up).

Portland Japanese Garden

Portland Japanese Garden is a proud participant in Arts for All, making the beauty and serenity of the Garden accessible to low-income families and individuals who receive food stamps (SNAP). Show your Oregon Trail Card at the Garden’s Welcome Center to purchase up to two adult tickets per card for $5 each and free admission for up to four children per card, ages 17 and younger.

Rice Museum

Museums for AllReceive a reduced rate admission of $3 per person when you present an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card and a valid form of photo ID. Rate is valid for up to four individuals per EBT card. Museums for All is a signature access program of the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
